This article will walk you through using our integration with Vetsource to approve a refill for a prescription through an Anipanion chat consult.
Now that Anipanion has partnered with Vetsource, you can create prescription recommendations directly from within a chat consult. Note that your Anipanion account must be connected to your profile in one of the PIMS that we integrate with, and you must have the Vetsource connection enabled by the Anipanion Support team. If you aren't seeing the Vetsource option for prescriptions while both of these conditions are met, please contact Anipanion Support.
Step 1: Log into the Anipanion Web App.
Step 2: Make sure you are on the Chats tab.
Step 3: Click on the chat where your client has requested the prescription refill.
Step 4: Click on the Refill Request chat message to start the refill approval.
Step 5: You will see your Pending Orders page in the Vetsource modal that pops up. Start by selecting your name from the Veterinarian dropdown, enter your PIN, and then click Login. You can't approve or deny any client prescription requests until you are logged in.
Step 6: Find the order that corresponds to the refill request that the pet parent was making, then click on the Approve button for that order.
Step 7: Check the expiration date, refill count, and quantity in the modal that pops up. Also, add usage instructions and, if needed, any pharmacy notes. When you are done, click OK.
Step 8: You can close out the Vetsource Modal at this point.
Step 9: You can inform the pet parent about the refill approval right away in the existing chat consult.
Step 10: The pet parent will also receive an email about the approval.
